INI-SHE-ATIVE CANADA runs an extensive project called Ramadan Project during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a remarkable endeavour that showcases the spirit of compassion, gratitude, and generosity. Ramadan is a time of deep reflection and heightened spirituality for Muslims worldwide, and this project embraces these values by extending a helping hand to those in need.
The primary focus of the project is to provide essential sustenance to disadvantaged individuals and families. By distributing ration packages and extra groceries, you are addressing the immediate needs of those who are financially struggling. This includes single mothers and widows, refugees recently arriving from war-torn countries, and elderly individuals who barely make ends meet on meagre pensions.
By targeting these vulnerable groups, our Ramadan project acknowledges the unique challenges they face and aims to alleviate their hardships. Single mothers and widows often bear the responsibility of providing for their families without adequate support. We are honoured to offer them essential food supplies, which not only ease their burden but also give them a sense of security during a time of great significance.
Similarly, newly arrived refugees fleeing war-torn countries face numerous obstacles as they seek to rebuild their lives in unfamiliar surroundings. By providing them with ration packages and groceries, we offer them a lifeline during their initial settlement period, ensuring they have access to nutritious food as they adapt to their new environment.
The Ramadan Project also extends its support to elderly individuals who struggle to make ends meet with limited financial resources. Many of these individuals have worked tirelessly throughout their lives and are now dependent on meagre pensions. By providing them with essential groceries, we offer them dignity and assistance, ensuring they can sustain themselves with the basic necessities.
And this is not all. INI-SHE-ATIVE goes a step further to spread joy and happiness by providing Eid gifts to the needy. Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is a celebration of breaking the fast and a time for families and communities to come together in gratitude and festivity.
The Eid gifts provided may include a variety of items that cater to different age groups and preferences. For children, the gifts may consist of toys, books, art supplies, or clothing, allowing them to experience the joy and excitement of receiving a special gift during the festive season. These gifts not only bring happiness to the children but also alleviate the burden on their families, who may not have the resources to purchase such items.
For adults, the Eid gifts can vary depending on the specific needs and interests of the recipients. They may include essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, or household supplies that can contribute to their well-being and comfort. And yes, we provide special sweet treats and “mithai “that are traditionally associated with Eid celebrations, enabling recipients to enjoy a festive meal or experience the traditional flavours of the occasion.
Beyond the immediate impact of providing groceries and Eid gifts, this project also fosters a sense of community and solidarity. Through this initiative, INI-SHE-ATIVE CANADA tries to promote a culture of giving, encouraging individuals from all walks of life to come together and support those in need. Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the project, and their dedication and commitment further strengthen the bonds within the community.
Ramadan Project exemplifies the core values of compassion, gratitude, and generosity. By providing ration packages and extra groceries to financially struggling families, single mothers, widows, refugees, and elderly individuals, we try to make a tangible difference in their lives. Moreover, the project serves as a catalyst for unity and community engagement, fostering a culture of giving and creating a positive impact beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
We have shared a few glimpses of the ration collection and Eid gifts. Please join us next Ramadan if you want to participate in the project as a volunteer.
