OUR PROJECTS
PROJECT GIVING CIRCLE
Giving Circle is a miraculous circle that keeps giving.
We call it Kitty for a Cause. It started with a hundred donors who contributed $10 each month, and $1000 was collected every month.
This amount was divided amongst five members whose names were chosen by a draw. The members who received $200 each had to donate it to a cause close to their hearts. Thousands of dollars have been collected and donated over the years through this magical circle of empathetic donors. Slowly we added Giving Circles of $20 and $50 and the amount of collected funds increased too.
Feel free to contact us to join it. It is a great way to collect some funds to help someone you know.
RIZQ PROJECT
Having three meals a day, many of us never realize that there are people around us whose pantries and refrigerators are empty. Food insecurity is a real thing and it can be much closer to home than you think. Hunger is not an issue for the homeless or strangers alone. Your friend, a neighbour or a colleague could be dealing with food insecurity too.
Our Grocery & Gift card project helps financially struggling families, single mothers and elderly people who are trying to make both ends meet.
We have a six-month program for single mothers to help them survive during the time when they move out of a shelter or transitional home and are trying to look for an affordable place to live.
With extremely high rents and back-breaking inflation, they can either pay rent or buy groceries with the funding they get from the government. Many new refugee families who reach out to us need rations, groceries and money for transportation too. We always need funds for groceries. You can pledge to cover monthly groceries for a family for six months or a year. You can Donate Now or Contact us and we will add you to the Pledge Program.
PROJECT HEAL & GROW
The Heal & Grow Project is a life-changing initiative that has helped many domestic violence victims rebuild their lives and regain their independence. Our goal is to help women who are ready to leave the shelter and now it’s time to stand on their own two feet. We help them by equipping them with vital resources and offering emotional and financial assistance, enabling them to become self-sufficient.
We offer a range of services, including grocery support, transport passes and assistance with locating affordable housing. Many of these women struggle to put food on the table for their children as the government assistance they receive barely covers their rent leaving little to address their basic necessities.
For many of these women, working outside the home is not an option due to their small children and inability to afford daycare. During the most challenging time of their lives, we offer unwavering support in every possible way. Additionally, we prepare them for self-sufficiency by providing guidance, financial aid to pursue education and assisting them in securing jobs or acquiring new skills to enhance their employability.
Our support does not end here. We stay connected with them for years, even after they have moved on from the program. We send gifts on special occasions such as Eid, Christmas and Diwali and send toys and books for their children. Many of these women have no family or friends in a new country and we become their family and friends.
If you want to help a broken woman heal and grow and start a new life with her children, please donate towards this project. We need continuous support to run this program.
PROJECT TEEMARDAAR
Teemardaar is an Urdu word that means a visitor who visits a sick or ailing person to cheer him up or look after him.
We have a team of dedicated and trained volunteers who pay visits to the sick in the hospitals and elderly in nursing homes to provide companionship and emotional support to the patients who may be feeling isolated or alone. These volunteers are trained to listen actively, be present and show empathy. A small visit makes a difference in the life of patients and our volunteers gain valuable experience and personal growth along the way.
We also provide meals to families who are caring for a loved one with a severe illness. This assistance helps alleviate some of the emotional and financial stress that can accompany caregiving. In some instances, the whole neighbourhood gets involved in providing daily fresh meals to a critically ill patient and her family. There are some volunteers who are always ready to help with providing transportation to appointments at hospital while others are ready to help babysit the kids. Good people make the world go round and there are plenty in the form of INI-SHE-ATIVE volunteers.
You can be a part of this project if you wish. Stay connected to us through our social media platforms and subscribe to our Newsletter or submit the form for future volunteer opportunities.
HELP FOR HER (HELP FOR EXPECTING SINGLE MOTHERS)
This project aims to support expecting single mothers who are abandoned by their partners and are experiencing financial hardships and emotional breakdown. Many are new to the country and are alone and have no friends or relatives.
Pregnancy can be a challenging time, and for single mothers, the experience can be even more daunting. We offer these women a helping hand by providing practical assistance and emotional support during this critical time.
We provide them with groceries and cover the cost of public transport or taxi rides for their trips to the hospital. We provide all the items required by the hospital for prenatal and postnatal care. What our volunteers do most lovingly is preparing a baby bag containing all the necessary items needed for mother and the baby after delivery. The joy on the face of a mother receiving these gifts of tiny baby clothes and other baby stuff cannot be explained in words. Things like a car seat, stroller and cribs are taken care of as well.
We need constant support for this program as we are seeing more and more such cases and getting more and more requests for help. With your help we can offer them the necessary support and hope they require to establish a better and brighter future for themselves and their children.
PROJECT LIFT HER UP
This project is dedicated to offer a helping hand to women entrepreneurs who come from low-income households or are single mothers. We achieve this by providing them with small loans, mentorship support, and guidance to help them overcome financial obstacles and establish their own businesses.
Through this project, these women can access funds that they might not have otherwise been able to obtain through conventional lending institutions. Some of our very generous donors have either helped with a big amount as a donation or an interest free loan for many start-ups. This financial support, when combined with our guidance on how to effectively utilize social media to promote their businesses has been a significant game-changer for many of these women.
In addition to financial support and marketing assistance, mentorship is a vital component of our project. We provide these women with experienced and successful mentors who can offer guidance and advice, allowing them to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to overcome the numerous challenges involved in launching and growing a business.
INI-SHE-ATIVE HELP FUND (WHATSAPP GROUP)
This is a group of some of our best donors. Some are angels that we have never met in person but they are always there to extend a helping hand.
It is a beautiful sentiment. Sometimes the people who help others are not the ones we see face- to- face. They can be total strangers on the internet or donors in a distant country who make a profound impact on someone’s life with their kindness and generosity.
The digital age has opened up new opportunities for us to help and support each other in so many ways. We share voice notes of stories of women who need help as well as inspirational success stories of those who emerged from the face of adversity, stronger and more resilient that gives strength to many listening quietly.
These donors have never disappointed us whenever we have put a request for funds for a particular case. We are able to collect thousands of dollars in a matter of hours sometime for a cause. Donation is not mandatory. We just give you an opportunity to help those in need.
If a particular story speaks to you and you want to help, you can donate towards it otherwise you can donate some other time. We keep posting pictures of ongoing projects and Drives too.
This group is a great way to stay in the loop to know about our upcoming Drives, Projects and events. Only admins can post so it’s a quiet group. Do ask us to be added to the group if you want to join.
MENTORSHIP PROJECT
Our mentorship program is designed to help women especially new immigrants navigate the challenges of starting a new career or adjusting to life in a new country. We match each mentee with a mentor who has expertise in their chosen field or industry, and who can provide them with personalized advice and guidance. Our program includes workshops, talks, and meetups that allow mentees to learn from their mentors and connect with other professionals in their field.
Through our mentorship program, we hope to empower young women and new immigrants to achieve their full potential and make a positive impact in their chosen fields. We are grateful for the support of our mentors, volunteers, and partners who make this program possible and help us change lives for the better. If you think your knowledge and experience can change someone’s life, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
WOMAN BEING COFFEE CLUBS PROJECT
We all know the power of a cup of coffee. Don’t we?
And its power to rejuvenate and refresh becomes tenfold when you have it with a bunch of like- minded women.
Our Coffee Clubs are loved and appreciated by all who attend our meetups. These gatherings have become a beloved fixture within our community, offering a comfortable and welcoming environment for women to socialize and connect.
The goal of Women Beings Coffee Club Project is to host casual, simple and frequent meetups that provide a welcoming and supportive community for women, especially new immigrants who are trying to settle in a new country.
These meetups are hosted in local coffee shops or restaurants. Every time there are some new guests. It is a great way to meet new people. The person sitting next to you might have similar interests and hobbies like you. Start a conversation and find out. Isn’t that exciting?
Women Beings Coffee Clubs is an idea that we are really proud of. These meetups have really provided a space where women can connect, build friendships and feel a sense of belonging. Casual meetups and making new friends does have a positive impact on one’s mental health and wellbeing and helps to promote social cohesion in the community.
Who says you cannot make friends after a certain age?
We are delighted when a guest sometimes shares a story how she was lonely for years as a new immigrant and how she found a group of girlfriends through these coffee meetups.
Now what is better than having coffee or lunch with a group of likeminded women? The chit chat and laughter is enough to blow all the worries away. Join our Facebook Group to be part of the coffee club meetups.
